External Wall Insulation
Heat moves from warmer to colder areas so when the temperature outside is cold then heat from inside the house will be lost through the walls. This requires a lot more heat to be generated to compensate for this loss.
External wall insulation is the solution for this problem. The system involves fixing insulation boards to the outside of a building. This is then covered with a mesh reinforcement, a base coat and then a final decorative finish. This reduces heat loss though the external walls significantly reducing heating bills.
The picture above shows before and after application of external wall insulation.
The 2 houses on the right have had external wall insulation fitted where the house on the left is waiting for the upgrade to external wall insulation

The Government has a number of targets for reducing energy consumption and carbon emissions. One way it has decided to tackle this problem is to help homeowners use less gas and electricity through the use of funded schemes.
The schemes provide financial assistance for improving insulation and replacing old, inefficient boilers.
The grants cover:
- Loft insulation
- Cavity wall insulation
- External Wall Insulation
